Overview of Counselling Training

Devon Counselling College is an independent training college that was formed in 2006, and has facilitated the training of over two hundred and fifty students who have achieved counselling qualifications.

This is an exciting time to be thinking about becoming a counsellor, as there is a growing recognition and acknowledgement of the value of the work we do. However, as there are currently no recognised training standards or regulation of counsellors in the UK, the different routes to qualification can feel a little confusing as you begin to research the various courses and training that are on offer – our team are always happy to talk you through this and to help you to find the best training for YOU.

This can be followed by applying for BACP Accredited Member status, once a member meets the criteria and has been in supervised practice for more than three years.

Our Courses:

You may like to start your training with a Counselling Taster session to see what the training is about and the work that it entails. This session can also be used as an introduction to Self Development and Communication Skills.

We currently deliver the following foundational counselling qualifications which provide a clear progression route from the Level 2 introduction to counselling through to the Level 4 Diploma, being the level required to practice as a professional counsellor in the UK:

In addition to this we often deliver further training workshops for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which are added throughout the year, so please keep an eye on our website for these, or subscribe to our mailshots.

We feel extremely proud to have assisted so many learners in developing their counselling and communication skills since we started the college, (please make sure to browse through the testimonials provided by a few of them) and our dedicated team would really love the opportunity to facilitate your training and development in the future.
