Advanced Specialist Diploma in Gestalt Therapy

(Level 5 Equivalent)

October 2024 Start (Weekly Tuesday)

I do my thing and you do your thing.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,
And you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you, and I am I,
and if by chance we find each other, it’s beautiful.
If not, it can’t be helped.

Fritz Perls, The Gestalt Prayer – “Gestalt Therapy Verbatim”, 1969

As The Gestalt Prayer says, by being self-aware and supporting your own needs, you establish an environment where you can better understand and support others, what better way to do this than deepening your knowledge and relationship with Gestalt (and yourself) so that you can provide a safe space to meet your clients and be in complete therapeutic contact with them.

This Advanced Specialist course is for counsellors who are qualified to diploma level and are interested in furthering their relationship with Gestalt theory and practice. Over 14 sessions of the course, we will look at the origins of Gestalt therapy and more modern Gestalt theories and practices. We will explore how you can integrate Gestalt into the work that you are already doing with your clients and explore your self-awareness and the contact that you make with them and the wider world.

We will spend some time forming as a group so that we can create an atmosphere where respectful curiosity and connection become the norm. You will be given to opportunity to practice implementing Gestalt theory and using various interventions in an environment where you feel safe and supported to experiment and explore. No prior knowledge of Gestalt therapy is needed for this course.
